Toddler Room Leader - Shiregreen - £28,300 -£29,300
40 hours per week
We are looking for a compassionate, organised, and experienced Room Leader to join our nursery team. The Room Leader will champion high-quality, play-based early years practice, lead a room of children and practitioners, and ensure every child receives nurturing care and stimulating learning experiences that support their development and wellbeing.
What You’ll Do:
Provide strong, positive leadership for your room, modelling excellent practice and creating a warm, inclusive environment where children feel safe and supported.
Plan, deliver and evaluate engaging, child-led learning opportunities that reflect individual needs, interests and stages of development.
Support and coach your team, fostering professional development, collaboration and reflective practice.
Build meaningful relationships with children and families, communicating effectively and involving families in their child’s learning and progress.
Observe, assess and maintain accurate records of children’s development in line with nursery policies and statutory guidance.
Ensure the room is well-resourced, organised and provides a stimulating indoor and outdoor environment that promotes independence and wellbeing.
Promote and maintain the highest standards of safeguarding, health, safety and hygiene at all times.
Contribute to planning across the nursery and take part in whole-setting initiatives to support continuous improvement.
Key Qualities We’re Looking For:
Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop a team.
High emotional intelligence and an empathetic approach to children, families and colleagues.
Creativity and initiative in designing engaging learning experiences.
Organisational skills and attention to detail, particularly around planning, record keeping and room management.
A commitment to inclusive practice and adapting approaches to meet individual needs.
Passion for sustainability and encouraging eco-friendly practices where possible.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Level 3 Early Years qualification (or equivalent) is required.
Proven experience working in an early years setting, with experience in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.
A willingness to work flexible hours as required to meet the needs of the setting.
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to undertake one) and two satisfactory references required upon offer of employment.
