Room Leader - Middlewood
Pay: £28,300 -£29,300
40 hours per week
Role Purpose
We are seeking a compassionate, organised, and experienced Room Leader to join our nursery team. As Room Leader you will be responsible for leading a room of children, supporting and coaching your team, and ensuring high-quality, nurturing early years practice that reflects our values. You will create an inspiring, safe, and inclusive environment where every child can thrive.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about early childhood development, confident in team leadership, and committed to delivering outstanding care and education. You will work closely with the management team to maintain excellent standards, support continuous improvement, and build strong partnerships with families.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the day-to-day running of your room, ensuring consistent, high-quality practice across the team.
Plan, deliver and assess play-based, developmentally appropriate activities that support the EYFS and individual learning goals.
Line manage, mentor and support room staff; conduct inductions, appraisals and regular supervision to promote professional development.
Ensure accurate observation, assessment and record-keeping for each child, including planning next steps and sharing progress with parents/carers.
Maintain exceptional standards of health, safety and hygiene; complete risk assessments and ensure compliance with safeguarding policies.
Build strong relationships with families, communicating regularly about their child’s progress and promoting partnership working.
Contribute to the wider nursery improvement plan, supporting curriculum development, resource management and room organisation.
Support the manager with rota planning and ensuring correct staff-to-child ratios are maintained at all times.

Skills & Experience
Essential
Level 3 Early Years qualification (or equivalent) with recent, demonstrable experience in an early years setting.
Proven experience leading a team or acting as senior practitioner within a room.
Strong knowledge of the EYFS and ability to translate theory into engaging practice.
Excellent communication skills with children, families and colleagues.
Good organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritise competing demands.
Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check and provide satisfactory references.
Desirable
Experience with coaching or formal staff development.
Additional qualifications in childcare leadership or SENCO training.
Knowledge of eco-friendly, sustainable resources and practice.

To be eligible for this role you must hold the required early years qualification and be able to complete an enhanced DBS check and provide two satisfactory references.
